What we are, and what we're not
GetFixHero is a dispatch service, not a plumbing company. We don't employ plumbers and we don't do plumbing work.
When you message us, we ask what's wrong and where you are, then match you with an independent plumber in our network who's available and handles that kind of job. We give you their direct number and give them yours. From that point you're dealing with them, not us.
The plumber quotes the job and does the work. You pay the plumber directly for the work — you pay GetFixHero nothing, ever.
Here's how we make our money, because it explains our incentives. Plumbers pay us a flat monthly fee to be part of the network and get matched with homeowners — the same way a business pays for advertising. We don't take a cut of your job and we don't charge you a booking fee. What that means for you: we only keep plumbers homeowners actually rate well, because our whole network depends on you trusting the plumber we send. A plumber who overcharges, doesn't show, or leaves customers unhappy stops getting matched — no matter what they pay us.
How plumbers get into our network
We show each pro's real credentials up front on their page, and jobs that legally require a certification only ever go to pros who hold it. We've either worked with a pro directly or checked them out before sending them a customer. If a plumber doesn't show up, misses a call window, or a customer has a bad experience, they stop getting leads. It's a small network on purpose.
What we're still building
We're a small operation and dispatch is currently handled by a person, not software. That means we're fast during the day and slower late at night. We'd rather say that than promise 24/7 coverage we can't deliver.
How this compares to Angi and Thumbtack
Angi and Thumbtack are lead marketplaces. They sell your information to several plumbers at once and charge each of those plumbers a fee for it, regardless of whether anyone books anything. Their business works whether or not your problem gets solved.
Ours is different. We match you with one plumber, not five, and we never sell your details to a pile of contractors. Plumbers pay us a flat monthly fee to be in the network, so what keeps us in business isn't selling leads — it's homeowners trusting the matches enough to come back and recommend us. A plumber who doesn't show, doesn't call, or leaves you unhappy stops getting matched.
That's not generosity. It just means we have the same interest you do in sending the right person the first time.
